Valentine’s Day will be Saturday. Local florists are preparing for one of the biggest retail days of the year.

Foghat will perform June 5 and Bellamy Brother will be featured June 6 at Chingawassa Days in Marion’s Central Park.

Addison Norris, 22-month-old daughter of Mike and Jamie Norris of Marion, was the winner of a cute baby contest sponsored by Duckwall’s of Marion. Proceeds benefited Marion Community Christmas.

Marion High School chose six seniors this past week as 2009 winter homecoming candidates. King candidates are Levi Carpenter, Mats Mangelrod Johnnessen, and Gabe Moore. Queen candidates are D.J. Gore, Kay Nickelson, and Jennilee Preece.

Marion High School’s scholars bowl team will compete Saturday for a state championship after winning its regional competition this past week. Team members are Sam Ehrlich, Patrick Hodson E.J. Obermeyer, Derek Stuchlik, and Matt Thierolf.
