Marion Kiwanis Club has announced that this year’s Old Settlers Day parade will recognize the centennial of the Boy Scouts with a theme of 100 Years of Scouting. The parade will be 11 a.m. Sept. 25 in downtown Marion.
Physician Rhea Hartley has joined St. Luke Physician Clinic. She is seeing patients two days a week.
Marion County Fire Chiefs Association will present a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. Sept. 5 at Marion County Park and Lake for Labor Day. The fireworks will be sponsored by Shawmar Oil and Gas.
A card shower is being requested for Roger and Lucille Bitner of Marion in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 16.
Finding a purpose for living is important as people grow older. Evelyn Jewett, 84, of Marion talks about the joys of quilting at Marion Senior Center. Jewett is in charge of a quilting detail and craft corner. She says it is her whole life.
An employee of Klassen Dairy at Hillsboro found six injured pregnant Holstein heifers Aug. 17 and 18 in a pasture southeast of Durham. The animals had been wounded by a shotgun. Beer cans and shotgun shells were found beside a road next to the pasture. The incident is being investigated, but so far there are no suspects.
