The long anticipated construction of housing complex, Sunrise Apartments, will start soon, Mayor Peggy Blackman told the commission Monday. Even though more funds are needed, a contract will be let on Tuesday.

Marion County voters turned out in droves Tuesday for the presidential election, backing Bob Dole in his losing bid for the presidency.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital during the month of September are: Jacob Perry Clayton born Oct. 5; Tristen Ross Hett, Oct. 9; Katelyn Sif Dold, Oct. 13; Harley Lynne Britton, Oct. 18; and Dylan Jerome Carpenter, Oct. 27.

Jeff Hanschu, son of Lyle and Carol Hanschu of Lost Springs, has been selected as this year’s Centre High School winner of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation leadership seminar. Jeff was selected based on leadership ability, sensitivity to others, personal incentive, and leadership potential.
