Rob Cooper began working Friday at Marion County Courthouse as court services officer in Marion County. He will oversee 80 adults and 40 juveniles assigned to probation by district court.

A four-day celebration in Florence will start Friday as the community conducts its annual Labor Day activities.

Rowena Plett of rural Lincolnville has joined the staff of the Marion County Record as a reporter. She will be covering news from the northern part of Marion County and the Centre school district and feature stories as they come to her attention.

Ona Griffith was selected as Sunflower Sweetheart and Ivanlee Timm as Mr. Nice Guy in a contest sponsored by Flint Hills North Central Area Agency on Aging through Marion Senior Center.

Jim Delk and Lonnie Nickel are pictured as they lift pork roasts off a grill Saturday at Tampa State Bank’s annual hog roast. Five hogs were prepared for an estimated 600 people.

Triple H Construction of Marion installed a new scoreboard this past week at Marion Stadium. Located in the same place as the old scoreboard, the new one is far larger yet simpler to operate because of computerized controls.
