Central Park has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland this year with bright and colorfully lighted trees and other trees adorned with white twinkle lights. From dusk to late evening, the lights glow to capture the attention of those passing by.

Kiwanians received perfect attendance pins at a regular meeting Monday. Awards went to Homer Stenzel for 28 years; Alex Case Jr., 21; Bill Meyer, 18; Roger Hannaford, 15; Leroy Riggs, 11; Gerry Harris, 10; Leland Heidebrecht. 9; Les Henderson, 7; Bob Priest, 2; and Charles Dannenfelser, 1.

Among births announced this week are those of Rebecca Mae, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Kelsey of Marion, born Dec. 1; Andrew Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Westerhaus of Des Moines, Dec. 2; Jason Dwight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Kruse, Dec. 4; Christopher Case, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Darrow, Dec. 7; and Christopher George, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bolton, Council Grove, Dec. 7.

About 50 units of the U.S. 56 Tractorcade passed through Marion. Farmers and businessmen along Main Street waved and cheered as the parade passed Thursday afternoon. On Saturday, 1,500 tractors were in Topeka.
