A real wintery blast of zero-degree temperatures hit the Great Plains in general and Marion County in particular Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The official prediction is for more of the same for several days.
James Smith was installed Tuesday night as master of Centre Lodge in ceremonies at the Masonic Temple. Ira Newcomer was the installing master, and Rosse Case acted as marshal.
The vocal department under the direction of Nadean Kruse will present its annual Christmas Vespers Dec. 23 in the high school auditorium.
The Christmas shopping season in Marion will climax in the next few days when final special events are carried out.
Tonight, the special attraction will be the giving away of 15 live turkeys. A big Kid’s Night drawing will be Monday night, with a live pony as the grand prize along with four other fine prizes.
John Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Christensen of Marion, will be honored at Kansas State University’s Wildcat gridiron banquet Wednesday night. John has been named K-State’s “most inspirational” player for the 1964 season.
