Donna Douglas, 10-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Douglas of Marion, is owner of King, a black and white pony given by the Chamber of Commerce as first prize in annual drawings for children in the area.

Other winners in the drawing were Tom McLinden, pool table game; Mike Klose, Varoom motor; Linda Bernhardt, Ken and Barbie set; and Jeannie Widler, Barbie.

A grand opening date of Jan. 2 has been set of Jackson’s Clothing Store. The new store will occupy the entire frontage of the former Oyer building on the southeast corner of the 3rd and Main Sts. intersection.

Signs of the Times: Albert Stenzel has a placard on the front of his Standard station that reads, “Help fight the war on poverty; trade here.” And Bud Pierce, whose Conoco station is also the B.F. Goodrich store, has one on his window that proclaims his place to be “Little David’s.”

The annual New Year’s Day “wolf hunt” is planned again this year for Jan. 1 at Youngtown. Hunters will meet at the Youngtown corner at 10 a.m. A noon meal will to be served at Walt Hayen’s by the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club, sponsor of the event.
