Unless sufficient protest from the Marion community is lodged with the Corporation Commission, Santa Fe buses running through Marion, northbound at 3:18 p.m. and southbound at 6:47 p.m. will be discontinued Dec. 5. About 200 tickets a month are sold to passengers who board the buses at Marion, it is estimated at the pharmacy, which is the local bus station.

Marion High School Warriors won the football championship of the Cottonwood Valley League when they defeated Peabody 13-0 before a record crowd Thanksgiving Day on the Peabody field.

LaVaughn Christensen became the bride of Eddie Klose in an impressive ceremony Nov. 20 at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Christensen of Marion. Pastor Henry Knoke performed the double-ring ceremony.

Owners of a new Luscombe, purchased through Virgil Hoopes of the Marion Airport, are Norman Plenert and Carroll and Merrill Christiansen, Durham. Oliver Unruh and Mr. Hoopes are in Dallas today to take delivery of the new 65 Silvaire.

Phyllis and Wayne Thies rode the Doodlebug to Lehigh on Saturday to visit their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Groening. Their parents went after them Sunday and were dinner guests at the Groening home.

One of Marion County’s oldest pioneer women, Mrs. T.B. Jackson of Peabody, died at her home last Sunday morning. She would have been 93 in March. Mrs. Jackson, mother of Marion businessman Guy Jackson, came to Kansas with her husband in 1881, homesteaded 10 miles southwest of Marion, and later moved to Peabody.
