E.V Cook, who has operated Marion Bakery for a couple of years under lease from Dave Greenemeyer, left last week to take a job in a bakery in Newton. Greenemeyer reopened the bakery this week and is operating it himself again.

Mrs. D.A. Price entertained Saturday afternoon with a party in honor of the third birthday of her son, John. Those present were Dean Klenda, Larry and Gary Knackstedt, John and Pauline Minear, Carolyn Merrill, Carol Hollar, Elaine Winslow, Robert Mehlinger, and Ginger and John Price. Mothers present were Mrs. Minear, Mrs. Klenda, and Mrs. Winslow.

Members of the Up ’n’ at ’Em Club went Friday evening to the home of Mrs. D.N. Ehrlich and surprised Nellie Boyer, one of their members. Each guest took her a handkerchief as a remembrance. She left Tuesday for her new position at Eureka.

The Marion school band under the direction of Wyatt Cooper played Thursday at the Hutchinson fair and also broadcasted over a Hutchinson station.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hauser are the parents of a daughter, Lucinda Anne. She weighed 6¼ pounds and was born Sept. 28 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.

Wedding write-ups in this week’s paper are those of Evelyn Pospisil and Melvin Strecker, Eldena Sampson and Cyrus Goertz, and Laurene Matthews and Clinton L. Williams.

Marjorie Klassen entertained Tuesday evening with a farewell party and bridal shower for Kathryn Heiser, whose marriage to Ezra Schmipf will be in October. She has been employed in the county treasurer’s office. She resigned her position and left Thursday for her home in Ramona.
