REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-56/77 at 310th Rd.

Two teenage drivers were injured at 10:25 a.m. Sept. 5 but not taken to a hospital after one of them turned into the path of the other after having stopped to wait for a truck to pass.

Andrew V. Madron, 17, Ramona, had stopped his southbound 2006 Ford Focus to wait to turn but pulled into the path of a northbound 2014 Dodge Charger driven by Kaigen W. Brewer, 18, rural Lincolnville.

Both vehicles were listed on deputy Bruce Burke’s report, released Friday, as total losses.

The report blames the crash on Madron’s driving inattentively and failing to yield, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

Brewer’s Dodge was owned by Heather N. Clemmer of its driver’s address. The Ford was owned by Jennifer M. Madron of its driver’s address.

K-15 north of 130th Rd.

David M. Vallier, 36, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 6:20 a.m. Sept. 9 with his 2011 Toyota Camry, which deputy Bruce Burke’s report states was a total loss with damage to its front third and undercarriage.

HILLSBORO

100 block of W. Grand Ave.

While attempting to diagonally park at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 11, 16-year-old Alivia R. Hefley of rural Marion drove a 2004 Toyota Camry over a curb and into a light pole.

Her description of how she was using her brake while pulling into the space caused officer John Huebert to conclude that anti-lock braking might have contributed to the accident.

The Toyota, owned by Jon C. Hefley of the same address, sustained damage characterized as minor.

Sixteen-year-old Phoebe D. Moss and 11-year-old Zoey Moss of Hillsboro were passengers at the time.

200 block of S. Madison St.

Roofer Gustavo A. Sarmiento-Castellano, 26, Newton, who was working nearby, hit an Atmos Energy gas meter while turning into an alley at 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

Police located his 2022 Chevy Silverado by following tire tracks. The truck, owned by Diana Gutierrez Madrid of a different Newton address, sustained only a small scuff mark.

Atmos repaired the meter.

Hillsboro Elementary parking lot

While Cecilia A. Laplante, 77, Hillsboro, was waiting in line to pick up her grandson, the battery of her recently repaired 2015 Chevrolet Equinox died, and her vehicle rolled backward into a 2010 Subaru Outlander driven by Victoria B. Brubacher, 40, Hillsboro.

Damage to the center of the Chevy’s rear bumper and the Subaru’s front bumper was characterized as minor scrapes.

Xavier L. Laplante was a passenger in the Chevy. Weston M. and Brielle B. Brubacher were passengers in the Subaru, owned by Don W. Brubacher of Hesston.
