ACCIDENTS
REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
Nighthawk Rd. north of 140th Rd.
Megan D. Schmidt, 35, Marion, hit a deer at 11:49 p.m. Nov. 14 while driving a 2017 Kia Sorento, according to one of six accident reports released by the sheriff’s department Nov. 27.
The sport-utility vehicle, owned by Victoria J. Britton of rural Marion, remained drivable with damage to its left front.
US-50 west of Pawnee Rd.
David L. Anderson, 75, Newton, hit a deer at 10:24 p.m. Nov. 19 with his 2003 Chevrolet Suburban.
Barbara A. Anderson, 74, of the same address was a passenger.
The SUV sustained disabling damage to its front and was towed.
K-15 south of US-56
Miretta S. Friesen, 65, whose address was left blank on deputy Corey Unruh’s accident report, hit a deer at 6:25 a.m. Nov. 23 with her 2018 Nissan Rogue, which sustained disabling damage to its front half and undercarriage and was towed.
US-56 east of Pawnee Rd.
What may have been diabetic issues were blamed for a wreck at 4:59 p.m. Nov. 25 in which Sonja P. Griffith, 85, McPherson, drove her 2019 Honda Accord off the road to the right then the left, hit a culvert, flew 90 feet in the air, and landed in a field before returning to the road and being driven a mile east of the scene.
She was taken to St. Luke Hospital by Marion ambulance. Her car was listed as destroyed in deputy Landis Goodman’s report.
US-50 east of Timber Rd.
Grant A. Lehnherr, 21, Park City, hit a deer at 5:52 p.m. Nov. 26 with a 2015 Ford F-150 owned by John W. Lehnherr of the same address.
The pickup remained drivable with damage to its front, right, and undercarriage.
Indigo Rd. north of 170th Rd.
Kylie A. Brown, 24, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 12:43 a.m. Nov. 27 with her 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, which remained drivable with damage to its front and hood.
Gracelynn Brown of the same address was a passenger. Her age was redacted with no stated justification from the open, public report of the wreck.
HILLSBORO
Wendy’s parking lot
While trying to park at 12:25 p.m. Nov. 25, Myron D. Klein, 84, Lincolnville, backed his 2024 GMC Sierra into a 2021 Ford Town and Country that had stopped behind him.
The Ford, owned by Kruse Corp. of Wichita and driven by Roy D. Harr, 49, Towanda, sustained damage to its front. Levi S. Thomas of Sedgwick was a passenger.
Klein’s GMC, in which Betty J. Klein of the same address was riding, sustained damage to its rear bumper.
