These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

HIGHWAY PATROL

US-56, 1½ miles west of Canton

Driver Jason L. Bernhardt, 52, and passenger Kara D. Druse, 33, both of Marion, suffered suspected minor injuries at 11:24 a.m. Friday when the driver of an eastbound 2005 Nissan Sentra lost control on slushy roads, and his car collided head-on with Bernhardt’s westbound 2019 Ram 2500.

Bernhardt and Druse were wearing seat belts and were not taken to a hospital.

The other driver, Donald A. Long, 68, of York, Nebraska, was not wearing a seat belt and was rushed with suspected serious injuries to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

Both vehicles were towed.

SHERIFF

US-56/77 north of 260th Rd.

Madisen N. Brecheisen, 19, El Dorado, hit a deer at 7:37 p.m. Feb. 7 with a 2013 Ford Edge owned by Candace L. Rupp of the same address, according to one of two accident reports released Friday, a week after the accident.

The car remained drivable with damage to its left front and hood.

Lakeshore Dr. north of 170th Rd.

While attempting to pull a stuck snowplow out of a ditch at 6:48 a.m. Feb. 12, Jeffery E. Stenzel, 55, rural Marion, lost control of a county 1995 Volvo L70B loader, which rolled onto its top in the opposite ditch, damaging a road sign.

The loader sustained extensive damage and was towed.

HILLSBORO

Ash and D Sts.

A 2017 Honda Civic owned and driven by Samuel D. Herrell, 20, rural Hillsboro, slid on snowy roads at 11:10 a.m. Feb. 12 and rear-ended a stopped 2015 Elcon Electric Ford F-250 driven by Aron L. Miller, 47, Hillsboro.

Officer David Funk’s report blamed the accident both on the weather and on Herrell driving too fast for conditions, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

The pickup sustained damage characterized as minor to its rear. Herrell’s car sustained more extensive damage to its front but remained drivable.

MARION

Casey’s General Store parking lot

An unoccupied 1981 Toyota pickup facing west at gas pumps at 2:40 p.m. Feb. 10, after its driver got out to enter Casey’s General Store, rolled west across the store’s parking lot and into That One Place’s fence.

Pickup owner Landon T. Dye, Marion, told police his truck had a manual transmission with no working parking brake.
