Several county golfers logged impressive scores to begin the season when Solomon High School was host for a golf tournament Thursday on Great Life Golf Course in Salina.

In Herington on Tuesday, three county golfers finished in the top 10. Easton Glessner of Centre took 2nd, Levi Schrag of Goessel took 4th, and Lincoln Wichert of Hillsboro took 8th.

Centre

Lone golfer Easton Glessner opened the season with a third-place finish Thursday, scoring a 78.

Glessner will be back in action Monday for the Hutch Central Christian invitational.

Goessel

Levi Schrag led Goessel golfers with a seventh-place individual finish and a score of 84.

Anthony Boden finished 14th with a score of 104, Luke Stucky was 18th with 117, and Colby Nafziger was 21st with 124.

Jack Nickel and Braxton Unruh ended the day with scores of 131 and 132 respectively.

The Bluebirds placed fourth out of eight schools.

“What pleased me the most was the attitude of the guys,” coach Chad Lindeman  said. “No one got frustrated or down. They kept playing hard and trying their best.”

Goessel will play Friday at Hillsboro.

Marion

The Warriors finished sixth out of seven as a team at the Solomon Invitational.

Individually, Jacob Tharp led the team with a 15th place finish and a score of 107.

Jordy Raymer tied for 23rd, while Ryker Salsbury finished 25th.

Noah Schmidt landed in 32nd. Austin Richardson took 34th.

“Two of our five from last Thursday had not played a round of golf before the meet in Salina,” coach Max Venable said. “It was a learning experience for the team, and now we have a baseline to work from.

“We will continue to work on the things that improve score, putting, chipping, and limiting big mistakes on the course.”

Marion will travel Monday to the Hutch Central Christian invitational.

Hillsboro

Hillsboro’s first team event of the season was canceled Friday because of weather in Salina.

The Trojans will be hosts for their own invitational Friday at the Hillsboro municipal golf course.
