Centre grad receives Senior Citizen scholarship

Jenaya Plett, a 2024 Centre graduate, has received a $500 scholarship from Senior Citizens of Marion County.

The annual scholarship, established in 2010, is to encourage young people to pursue careers in age-related fields such as medicine, social work, nursing, psychology, etc.

Jenaya will attend Emporia State University to pursue a degree in nursing.

Jenaya also was a guest June 11 at a meeting of the St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary Board and volunteers.

Other guests included Susan Lynch, district coordinator of Hospital Volunteers of Kansas; Pearl Shank, president of Pratt Regional Hospital Auxiliary; and Rowena Plett.

St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary was awarded a Gold Award for participation and completion of tasks for 2023. Chief executive Alex Haines congratulated the volunteers for diligent work performed to support the hospital departments.
