Charles Kannady

Services for Charles Galen Kannady, 76, Marion, who passed away peacefully Saturday, were to have been at 11 a.m. today at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, 105 Eastmoor Drive, Marion.

Charles’s life began June 9, 1945, in Joplin, Missouri, a son of Jim “Tom” and Norma Cleta (Carpenter) Kannady.

He graduated from Valley Center High Class of 1964 and then for 1½ years attended Oklahoma State University, where he played football.

He married Linda Gayle Fransham on Aug. 27, 1967, at Valley Center United Methodist Church. He attended Wichita State University while working at Boeing. He finished up his college degree at Friends University in Wichita, where he also played football.

Charles taught science and driver’s education in Florence, Marion, and Goddard. He was a farmer/rancher and a real estate broker. He attended Eastmoor United Methodist Church and was a member of Lions Club, National Board of Realtors, and Marion Advancement Campaign.

He enjoyed playing cards and billiards. Most of all he loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.

His loving family includes wife Linda of the home; sons and their wives Dirk and Tonya Kannady of Haysville, Eric and Lindsay Kannady of Manhattan, and Dax and Emily Kannady of Pilsen; brother Jimmy Kannady of Valley Center; sister Teresa Kannady of Benton; and three grandchildren, Rylie, Avery, and Gage Kannady.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Cynthia Kannady.
