Ed Robinson
The family of Ed Robinson, 89, who passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 28, 2024, at his home in Florence, will gather with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Marion.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Florence United Methodist Church. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
Ed’s life began Nov. 8, 1935, in Newton. His parents were Arthur and Mabel (Willey) Robinson.
He graduated Florence High School in 1953. After high school, he attended Kansas State Teachers College.
Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army from August, 1958, to August, 1960. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry at Fort Myers in Arlington, Virginia, where he was a member of the honor guard.
Along with managing the Florence co-op for 26 years, he was a jack of all trades when it came to business and entrepreneurship — a liquor store, a coin laundry, cattle ranching, and so much more.
Ed was very involved in his community, serving on the city council, Florence Historical Society, Florence Community Foundation, and Florence Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of John McKay Post 308 of the American Legion and the Kansas Livestock Association.
Ed was an active cattleman, spending days at the farm tending to cattle. He enjoyed spending mornings at the gas station in Florence, greeting townsfolk. He never knew a stranger and never forgot a face.
He is survived by children Jackie (and husband Mike) Sigwing of Wichita, Ed (and wife Linda) Robinson of Florence, and Kevin (and wife Janet) Robinson of Florence; grandchildren Kelly (and husband David) Seume, Natasha Brenzikofer, Nathan Brenzikofer, Jeconiah (and wife Jenna) Spangler, Jeremy (and wife Katlyn) Robinson, KayCee (and husband Isaac) Hett, and Krisde (and husband Trevor) Kruse; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann (and husband Troy) Craig of Henderson, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, grandsons Kolten and Arthur, and brothers Claire and Bill Robinson preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions in Ed’s name may be directed to the Florence American Legion.
