AUG. 12

4:06 p.m. — An 82-year-old man with chest pains after being stung multiple times by an insect at a home on County Rd. in Tampa declined to be taken to a hospital by Tampa ambulance attendants using a backup vehicle previously based in Peabody.

8:18 p.m. — An 85-year-old man who hurt his hip in a fall Friday at a home on Schlotthauer Dr. at Marion Reservoir’s Eastshore subdivision was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, by a backup ambulance based in Marion.

8:56 p.m. — A 71-year-old woman who fell out of a wheelchair at a home in the 100 block of N. B St. in Ramona was helped up by Tampa ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

THURSDAY

11:14 a.m. — A 95-year-old woman who fell and hurt her leg and a finger at Parkside Homes duplexes in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

1:32 p.m. — A 58-year-old man with sepsis was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

3:11 p.m. — An unspecified patient was transferred without explanation by Tampa ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to McPherson Center for Health.

4:53 p.m. — A woman who a child reported was bleeding at a home on Lakeshore Dr. near Jerome St. at Marion County Lake was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

6:06 p.m. — A 95-year-old woman with a fractured hip was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to St. Francis.

7:30 p.m. — An unspecified patient was transferred by EagleMed helicopter from HCH to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

9:36 p.m. — A 79-year-old man who fell in the morning and remained on the floor with an injured back inside a locked home in the 600 block of Wichita Ave. in Lincolnville was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance after entry to the home was arranged. A Lincolnville first responder helped.

10:41 p.m. — A 62-year-old man who fell at a farmhouse north of US-56 on Kanza Rd. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

FRIDAY

4:44 a.m. — A 62-year-old man with sepsis was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Kansas Heart Hospital. Wichita.

3:29 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman with diarrhea and malaise at a home near Jerome St. and Bluestem Ln. at Marion County Lake was taken to St. Luke by the Marion backup ambulance.

5:07 p.m. — An 89-year-old woman who fell at a home in the 300 block of Meadow Ln. in Goessel was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. Goessel first responders were paged but did not answer.

SATURDAY

12:56 a.m. — Marion ambulance was ordered to stand by at Flying Eagle Truck Stop in Florence after a wreck in which a reportedly injured person fled on an all-terrain vehicle. Within 15 minutes, however, the ambulance was told it would not be needed.

4:49 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was ordered to stand by at the Peabody fire station until a deputy determined it was safe to approach a wreck in which two people may have been injured when air bags deployed after a parked vehicle was hit. Marion ambulance also responded, and both ambulances were cleared by a deputy to go to the 300 block of N. Locust St. Marion ambulance was told to stand down, and Hillsboro ambulance reported that whatever patients were found declined to be taken to a hospital.

5:40 a.m. — A 93-year-old woman on hospice care who fell twice and may have broken her hip at a home in the 400 block of E. Main St. in Goessel was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:44 a.m. — An 82-year-old woman vomiting at a farmhouse near US-77 and 140th Rd. was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance.

8:44 a.m. — Fire in a pickup truck pulling a trailer on K-150 east of Wagon Wheel Rd. was extinguished within half an hour by Marion firefighters.

3:31 p.m. — A 55-year-old man having chest pains at Carriage Manor apartments in Florence declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded. A Florence first responder provided initial evaluation of the patient.

5:46 p.m. — A fire alarm at Orsted’s Sunflower Wind building on N. Roosevelt St. in Marion’s industrial park was determined by Marion firefighters to be a false alarm. Firefighters noted that the building was locked, but dispatchers said they had no information on how to contact Orsted. Eventually, firefighters were able to reset the alarm.

7:04 p.m. — A 70-year-old woman with an altered mental state after suffering two seizures at a farmhouse near 250th and Falcon Rds. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:30 p.m. — An 86-year-old man with heart failure was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

10:46 p.m. — En route from Wesley, Marion ambulance was sent back to St. Luke to transfer a second patient to St. Francis. The ambulance eventually was assigned a different call, and Hillsboro ambulance was assigned at 12:45 a.m. to handle the call instead.

10:55 p.m. — At a sheriff’s deputy’s request, Peabody firefighters were sent to Old Mill and 50th Rd. to provide extra lighting at a wreck there.

11:08 p.m. — A 29-year-old motorist drifting in and out of consciousness after drinking alcohol and throwing up blood in a vehicle on US-50 west of Alfalfa Rd. was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. The call initially went to Hillsboro ambulance but was reassigned to Marion ambulance, with Hillsboro ambulance assigned instead to a pending transfer that had been assigned to Marion ambulance. Florence firefighters provided initial evaluation of the patient. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

11:49 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred by EagleMed helicopter to Salina Regional Health Center.

SUNDAY

8:25 a.m. — A 65-year-old man dehydrated from diarrhea and vomiting at a farmhouse on 170th Rd. southeast of Marion County Lake was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

3:17 p.m. — An unspecified victim of a possible stroke at a home near 3rd and Main Sts. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance and opted instead to go by private vehicle.

3:42 p.m. — A 24-year-old man with an obstructed bowel was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health.

9:01 p.m. — Without being dispatched, Hillsboro ambulance reported to HCH to transfer an unspecified patient to St. Francis.

MONDAY

12:21 a.m. — A fire alarm at Hillsboro High School, reported by neighbors but not by the school’s alarm company, was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to be a false alarm.

5:53 a.m. — A second alarm at the high school also was found to be a false alarm.

6:46 a.m. — A 79-year-old woman who pulled loose a feeding tube at a home on US-50 east of Mustang Rd. was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:47 p.m. — A 65-year-old man with hypertension was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to St. Francis.

6:22 p.m. — With Hillsboro ambulance in Wichita, Marion ambulance was dispatched to a house in the 100 block of N. Walnut St. in Peabody for a cryptic report of a person who apparently had fallen. A law enforcement officer canceled the call before the ambulance arrived. Tampa ambulance initially was sent to Hillsboro to stand by in case of additional calls, but attendants were told they wouldn’t be needed before they arrived.
