Hillsboro block party set

A downtown block party is being added to an Aug. 13 Chamber of Commerce downtown cruise and movie night.

Grand Ave. will be blocked off from Main to Washington Sts. for the block party.

Because Tabor College has added the event to its orientation, it is expected to draw as many as 200 Tabor students from 6 to 8 p.m.

The fire department will offer water games, and city officials will take their chances sitting in a dunk tank.

Businesses that hire student employees are being encouraged to set up tables and participate in the block party so they can connect to potential student employees.

City officials will also be at the Tabor campus Aug. 12 to hand out welcome bags to incoming Tabor students.

The bags will contain coupons, pens, and other items to promote Tabor and the Hillsboro business community.
