Judith Wegerer

Services for Judith (Reznicek) Wegerer, 69, who died Friday at Life Care Center in Wichita, were earlier today at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Marion. Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 23, 1954, at St. Luke Hospital to Cyril and Elizabeth (Redford) Reznicek.

Her family moved to Ottawa in 1963. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1972.

She began her college education at Fort Scott Community College and received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas.

She met her future husband, Lou Wegerer, while they were classmates at Marion Elementary School. They were married Jan. 21, 1978, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.

Survivors include her husband of Marion; daughters Andrea Salisbury of Marion and Allison Unruh of Goessel; sister Mary Jo Karleskint of Fort Scott; and nine grandchildren.

Her parents and sister Susan Berg preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established with Holy Family Parish.
