Kay Scharping
A memorial service for Kay Frances Scharping, 79, who died Dec. 17, 2024, at Salem Home in Hillsboro after a short battle with cancer, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27 at First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro.
Private burial will take place later at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery.
Born Oct. 10, 1945, in Hillsboro, she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1963 and attended American Business School.
Kay worked as a legal secretary and lived in Anchorage, Alaska; Eugene and Cottage Grove, Oregon; and Hillsboro.
Her parents, Herbert and Martha Scharping, and brother, Stanley Scharping, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sister-in-law Ruby Wilkinson (and husband Greg), nephews Brian Scharping (and wife Jan) and Jeff Scharping (and wife Julie); great nephews Andrew Scharping (and wife Emma), Robert Scharping, Eric Scharping, and Nicholas Scharping; great nieces Heather Baldwin (and husband Cody), Elizabeth Boswell (and husband Seth), and Megan Jenkins (and husband Forrest); great-great nephews Joseph and Paul Boswell and Charles Scharping; and great-great niece and nephew, Aspen and Leif Jenkins, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established with First Mennonite Church, 102 S Ash St, Hillsboro KS 67063.
