Kenneth Monroe
A memorial service for retired state trooper Kenneth Meral Monroe II, 79, Hutchinson, who died Monday, will be 3 p.m. Monday at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.
Born March 8, 1945, in Fort Scott to Kenneth M and Betty J. (Farmer) Monroe, he married Loretta Brobst on Jan. 13, 1963, in Wichita.
He served in the Navy and was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He worked as a letter carrier in Wichita before joining Kansas Highway Patrol and was stationed for 23 years in Marion, until his retirement in 1994.
The couple also lived in Union Town and Hutchinson and, for several years after retirement, in Kingsland, Texas.
Survivors include his wife; daughters Jo Whitely, Tomi Gasper, and Robin Blazek; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
