For 16 days in March, work of local quilters will be displayed in the Santa Fe Room at Marion City Library.

The quilt show will feature more than 25 quilts and quilted items.

“I’ve got a queen size quilt I made down there that I made last year,” Elora Robinson said. “I had it quilted by Fern Goodwin in Burns.”

The quilt is a “Trip Around the World” pattern made in various shades of gray and trimmed in black.

“This will be saved for a wedding gift for a granddaughter,” Robinson said.

Every bed in her house is topped with a quilt she made. Although they won’t be on display at the library, Robinson also has baby quilts for any great-grandchildren who come along.

She started quilting in 2003, a year before she retired, but she had a lifelong love of sewing, Robinson said.

“It gave me something to do, and I enjoy sewing,” she said.

It’s important to her for colors to coordinate well.

“I think that’s the biggest thing about quilting is picking out fabrics that go together,” she said. “I’ve seen some pretty ugly quilts, but it takes a lot of time to pick out fabrics that go together.”
