Lois Steinel

Memorial services for Lois J. Steinel, 91 of Emporia, will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Peter Rehwaldt of the church.

Cremation has occurred. Private inurnment will be held in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Steinel died Nov. 13, 2018 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.

Lois Josephine Danielson was born June 19, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Gotthard and Alice Nelson Danielson.

She married Conrad Steinel Oct. 7, 1949 in Lindsborg, Kansas. She is survived by her husband, Conrad; daughters Marcia Lehrman, Manhattan, and Carol Steinel, Emporia; sons Daniel Steinel, Lenexa, and Michael Steinel, Denton, Texas; brother Larry Danielson, Appleton, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Chris and Matt Lehrman, Natalie Steinel, Grace Steinel Jones, and Rebekah Lehrman Stowe; and six great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Olivia Lehrman, Parker and Sadie Stowe, and Robbie and Elisha Lehrman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Erwin Danielson.

Lois received her bachelor of arts degree from Bethany College, Lindsborg, and her master’s degree in Library Science from Emporia State University.

She was a teacher and librarian at Arkansas Elementary in Wichita, Marion High School, Whittier, William Allen White, and Maynard elementaries in Emporia.

Lois was a member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, ADK, the Emporia Area Retired School Personnel, Women of ELCA, and Church Women United.

Memorials have been established for Hand-In-Hand Hospice and Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801
