Marion Advancement chooses projects
Staff writer
Marion Advancement Campaign has selected six potential projects to fund.
Tax-deductible donations will be matched through Dec. 24.
“We do encourage donors to give early to ensure they don’t miss the opportunity for these great causes to receive matching funds to their gift,” MAC chairman Matt Meyerhoff said. “We encourage donors with any question to contact their accountant for any specific guidance.”
This year’s causes are:
- An elementary school communication board. Students with speech and hearing disabilities at the school use image-based “Talkers” to communicate but have no way to do so on the playground. A communication board would allow them. Up to $2,000 in matching funds is available for this project.
- A Teachers’ Supply Closet for Marion-Florence and Centre schools providing resources and supplies needed for learning school budgets fail to. Contributions of up to $2,500 will be matched.
- Marion County Food Bank general fund. Up to $2,500 will be matched.
- Tampa Community Center Remodeling. Up to $10,000 in matching money is available.
- St. Luke Living Center bus. The nursing home’s 20-year-old bus which provides access to appointments, recreation, shopping, and other places, needs to be replaced. Donors also gave toward this project at St. Luke Hospital Foundation annual dinner. Up to $2,000 in donations will be matched.
- Marion Advancement Campaign general fund. The fund helps support MAC’s scholarship program, provide training for board members, and covers operational and accounting costs.
Marion banks will accept cash or check donations.
