Marion boys secure
homecoming victory

Marion
Marion dominated Inman, winning the Warriors’ homecoming game 58-43 Friday night.
“We have been working on having more intensity on the defensive end, and it really helped us,” coach Kevin Dasenbrock said.
Luke Wessel led the team with 19 points and four steals.
Jackson Howard put up 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Carson Krause scored 13 along with five assists.
Kadon Mercer scored nine with four steals. Sam Loomis had two points, five blocks, and four rebounds.
“We are young but talented,” Dasenbrock said. “We have gotten better every game and look forward to continuing that progress.”
The Warriors will be participating through Saturday in the Centre Classic this week.
Peabody-Burns
Peabody-Burns stunned Wakefield, winning 58-47 in overtime at home Friday night.
Jameson Miles led the team with 24 points. Aiden Hurst added 18 points of his own.
“We played well in the second half and in overtime,” coach Bobby Kyle said.
The Warriors will be back in action this week at the Centre Classic.
Goessel
The Goessel boys scored first in Friday’s game at Canton, but the Eagles responded and led 16-11 at the end of one period.
A basket by Jack Nickel followed by one from Wyatt Sommerfeld got the Bluebirds within two points in the second quarter, but an 8-0 run by Canton-Galva ballooned its lead to 31-21 at halftime.
Goessel played even in the third quarter, but Canton-Galva connected on long range baskets in the fourth, jumping to a final score of 66-46.
Jack Nickel led the Bluebirds with 20 points. Wyatt Sommerfeld added 9, and Trey Gaddis scored 8.
Goessel also will be playing in the Centre tournament.
Hillsboro
The Trojans lost 40-32 on the road Friday at Hesston.
Seth Driggers led the team with 10 points and three steals.
“He created havoc all over the floor,” coach Kyle Kroeker said.
Easton Shahan, Noah Beavers, and Lincoln Wichert each pulled down five rebounds.
“I was proud of the team’s heart and willingness to battle,” Kroeker said. “I feel we are right there against some very tough teams. It will be exciting to see what we can do as we clean some different things up.”
Hillsboro will be host for its own tournament this week, with final games being played Saturday in Hillsboro.
