Marion city staffer moves to Hillsboro

Staff writer

Marion city office employee Sandy Scheele now works for the city of Hillsboro.

She started Jan. 6 as accounts payable and payroll clerk.

Those are her primary duties. administrator Matt Stiles said, but other duties arise for her.

“Everybody here is kind of a Swiss Army knife,” Stiles said.

She joins city clerk Danielle Bartel and deputy city clerk, utility billing and court clerk Caren Funk.

Stiles said he thought Scheele was happy not to have to drive from Hillsboro to Marion every day.

“She’s been a good addition to the team,” Stiles said. “She fits into our culture, and I think she’ll be a good fit for us.”

At Marion, Scheele took payments at the front counter and was accounts payable director and court clerk. She also activated the city’s Code Red notification system and helped maintain the city website.

Interim city administrator Mark McAnarney said the opening had not yet been posted on the city’s website because employees were “working really hard to get the end-of-year stuff done.”

“We just need to find somebody willing to learn,” McAnarney said. “Some experience dealing with the public, some accounting and computer experience, because that’s what they do.”
