Marion duo receives volleyball honors

The volleyball season ended with more honors for Marion senior Chloe Burkholder. The setter was awarded honorable mention for the Heart of America All-League team, as was sophomore Libero Jayden May.

It was the second consecutive year they both received all-league honors.

Burkholder made the second team last year, but her stats took a major step forward during the senior season. She assisted on 501 of the team’s assists for the season, 85 more than last year. Burkholder also improved on her serving during the 2019 season, finding success on 95.2% of serves, while converting 35 aces. Her serving accuracy came despite having the most attempts on the team, with 315.

May was on the honorable mention list as a freshman in 2018, and she was one of the Warriors’ top servers this season. May had the third-most serve attempts for Marion, with 293 on the season, and third-most aces, with 23. She handled 423 of the team’s 1,504 digs, nearly one-third. May tallied a similar workload on serve-receives, with 560 of the Warriors’ 1,561 receives.
