A large crowd was on hand Saturday as 30 seniors received high school diplomas at commencement ceremonies at Marion Sports and Aquatic Center.

The processional and recessional were performed by the middle and high school band, directed by Steven Glover. Marion Singers, under the direction of Ruth Springer, sang the alma mater and national anthem.

Principal Donald Raymer presented awards. Those recognized as graduating with honors, with 3.5 to 3.74 grade-point averages, were Christian Albin, Emma Box, Heidi Grimmett, Emily Hake, Dominic Miller, Miles Olson, Emma Soyez, Anderson Waddell, and Campbell Winter.

Those graduating with high honors, 3.75 to 4.0 GPAs, received honor medals. They were Amy Gayle, Jayden May, Mickelly Soyez, and Hannah Stubenhofer-May.

Hannah and Christian were recognized as outstanding seniors.

Amy and Christian received citizenship awards from Kansas State High School Activities Association. Amy was recognized as a Kansas governors scholar.

Valedictorians Amy and Mickelly and salutatorian Jayden addressed the crowd, sharing memories and advising younger students to make the most of their high school years.

School board president Nick Kraus presented diplomas, and Superintendent Aaron Homburg switched tassels.

Graduates mingled with family members and friends after the ceremony.
