Marion ponders walking trail
Staff writer
A walking and bike trail proposed for Marion was revisited Monday by Marion City Council.
Kansas Parks and Wildlife awarded a grant to develop the trail 1½ years ago. Work has not been done.
Council member Zach Collett said he “didn’t want it to get lost in the shuffle.”
The trail would meander from Ann’s Park along Kellison St. to east of the city’s baseball park and football stadium. It then would lead past a community garden and go west to Eisenhower Dr., and south to Lawrence St. It would proceed west along Lawrence to Thorp St., then south half a block on the east side of East Park.
From there it would go west along the south side of East Park, then north along the west side of the elementary school to Denver St.
On Denver St. the trail would lead west to Coble St., then north back to Kellison St.
The trail will be put on an agenda for the next council meeting.
