A clock, handmade by C.E. Coleman, a resident at Marion County Lake, is being offered as a fund-raiser for the Chat & Dine Club. It will be awarded Nov. 12 during the club’s annual arts and crafts fair to be held at Marion County Lake Hall.

Florence Middle School students Erin O’Dell, Justin Hett, Dustin Sharp, Jessica Moore, Jenny Lundgren, and Jesse Branson received incentive awards for the first nine weeks of school. Students are recognized for attendance, grades, and citizenship.

Special celebrations reported this week include birthdays of Charles Winkley, 80, and Hope Spain, 85; the 80th anniversary of Athena Study Club; the 65th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hett; and the 50th anniversaries of Marion and Tampa high school classes of 1944.

Marion-Florence REC sponsors weekend soccer games, which provide children with exercise and a chance to do something other than watch cartoons. Students pictured playing soccer are Travis Hett, Josh Kelsey, Jessica Bernhardt, and Scott Pennington.
