Nearly a dozen student-athletes from Marion County were named to all-league in volleyball.

After winning the state championship, Hillsboro athletes Zaylee Werth and Kori Arnold were picked for the first team by Central Kansas League.

Zaylee finished the season with 507 kills and a 0.337 hitting percentage. Arnold finished with 81 aces and 436 digs.

Savannah Shahan and Ella Suderman were selected for the CKL second team. Honorable mention went to Trojan Kirsten Kluver.

Marion High School had two volleyball players on Heart of America League teams.

Grace Hett, a junior libero, received first-team honors by leading the league with 547 digs, 279 attacks, and 79 kills. She was the leading scorer for Marion with 222 points as well as the leader in aces for both Marion and the league with 71.

Calli Burkholder, a senior setter for the Warriors, received second-team honors by being in the top three in the league with 725 assists.

She led the league among teams running a 5-1 offense with 368 attacks and 86 kills. She was the second leading scorer for Marion with 190 points, third in the league with 61 aces, and second highest number of digs for Marion with 268 digs.

Three Goessel athletes made the Wheat State League first team: senior Ashley Rosfeld, sophomore Brooklyn Wuest, and junior Jaicee Griffin.

Wuest averaged 2.7 kills per set with a hitting percentage of 0.152 a game. Rosfeld finished with 513 digs, 783 receptions, and 56 serving aces. Griffen had 52 blocks and 86 kills.

A Centre player also was featured in this year’s Wheat State League first team: sophomore Olivia Carlson.

She fiinished with 47 blocks, 378 digs, 9 assists, 177 kills, and 269 receptions.
