Nguyen pins 5 opponents in 6 minutes

Marion senior Brian Nguyen continued an amazing season Saturday in Halstead, pinning all five of his opponents in just over six minutes of total wrestling time.

Nguyen now has a 15-2 season record and is trending in the right direction as the season is half over.

“I am excited at the life that our wrestlers showed during this weekend,” coach Tyler McMichael said. “We have a busy week, going into Bluestem on Tuesday and Eureka on Saturday, but I am hoping we will be able to carry our newfound aggression into the final few tournaments of the season.

Hillsboro’s Jaxon Chrislip placed third in Halstead in the 144-pound class. Logan Rogers took fifth in the 215-pound class. Magnusson Cathey and William Andreas each was sixth in his class.

“We have used the past week talking a lot about consistency, progress, and fundamentals,” Hillsboro coach Scott O’Hare said. “This theme will continue for our team the rest of the season,” O’Hare said.

Both the Warriors and Trojans will hit the road this Saturday for a tournament in Eureka.
