Pajama story time planned

Staff writer

Kids can put on their pajamas, grab a stuffed animal, and log into Zoom on Tuesdays in January for virtual pajama story times.

The sponsor, Parents as Teachers, has offered other virtual activities to entertain kids 3 and younger during the pandemic. Among them have been a Zoom music class and a Facebook Live story time.

“None of our staff are super suave at technology,” parent educator Becky Suderman said, “but this year, we decided that we’d try this.”

A different educator will take each story session, which will be at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4, 11, 18, and 25.

“Pajama Time” by Sandra Boynton and “Bear Snores On” by Karma Wilson are planned for the first session.

Sessions are designed to last 30 minutes, but that relies on the attention span of their listeners.

“It’s not exactly like a story time at a library, which could be 30 minutes to an hour,” Suderman said. “But there are some communities that don’t have that option because they don’t have a community library, like the Centre school district .So we tried to provide something for ‘littles’ that would encourage early literacy.”

Links to participate are available from Suderman at becky.suderman@usd410.net.
