Peabody Fall Festival

Peabody’s Fall Festival will open at 11 a.m. Saturday with Tomahawk Truck mobile axe throwing, a car show, bouncy houses, a kids zone, vendors, a dog show, a cornhole tournament, and a horseshoe tournament, all at City Park.

Magician Dave May will perform at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Pumpkin carving and birdhouse painting will be at 1 and 3 p.m.

A local talent hour will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

FFA will display a petting farm from 3 to 5 p.m.

A kids’ tractor pull will be at 5 and 5:30 p.m.

A disc golf ring of fire for all levels will be from 4 to 5 p.m.

Sunflower Theatre will present Haymakers from 4 to 6 p.m.

The band, from Wichita, plays a non-traditional mix of traditional and original blues, bluegrass, folk, Americana, and jam. Their music incorporates harmonica, guitar, mandolins, and an upright bass.

Food will be available all day.

The festival will include an art competition for ages 12 and older.

Everyone can participate in a scarecrow contest. Entry forms must be received by the city office by Thursday. Winners will be announced during the festival.

People entering scarecrows are being asked to keep in mind that the contest is a family event and avoid scarecrows that are political, religious, violent, or controversial.

Peabody Historical Society will have assorted slices of pie for sale by donation and a full-size cat quilt for raffle. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or six for $5.

Donald Skinner’s book, “Light Up the Sky: Peabody at 150 Years,” will be available from the historical society for $25 with a free copy of “Peabody 100 Years” to go with it.
