ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Oct. 31 — A driver in the 900 block of E. D St. was warned about speeding. Another at Indigo Rd. and Willow Glen Ln. was warned about an equipment violation.

Nov. 1 — Daniel J. Billinger, 23, Hillsboro, was arrested at 11:10 p.m. in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave. on suspicion of driving while his license was revoked. A driver in the 100 block of S. Adams St. was cited for having no insurance. A warning was issued in the 100 block of W. 1st St. for an equipment violation. Police met with a resident of the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. about harassment.

Nov. 2 — A juvenile was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property after police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of S. Ash St.

Thursday — Three drivers were warned for making J-turns on Main St. Four others were warned for speeding in the 200 block of S. Main St. A warning also was issued for running a stop sign in the 100 block of N. Main St.

Friday — Police searched for but could not find a dog that reportedly bit someone in the 100 block of S. Ash St. A municipal court arrest warrant for failure to appear in court was served on Samuel I. Reffett, 40, Durham. Police assisted with a child custody issue.

Saturday — A juvenile driver was detained early Sunday for violating curfew and license restrictions, and her passenger was detained for violating curfew. Both were released to their parents. According to monitored transmissions, a sheriff’s deputy and a Hillsboro officer had been following the girls’ vehicle. They stopped it, and a second deputy with a drug-sniffing dog joined them. The dog indicated drugs might be present, but a search apparently turned up nothing.

In other police activity Saturday, motorists were warned for not using turn signals in the 100 block of S. Ash St. and at US-56 and Ash St. A complaint of reckless driving at D and Ash Sts. was investigated but not substantiated.

Sunday — A report of a dog running free in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. was not substantiated. A driver was warned for not using a turn signal in the 100 block of S. Cedar St.

MARION

Police made 13 traffic stops during the week.

Nov. 2 — The welfare of a resident of the 100 block of Jefferson St. was checked.

Thursday — A cart that blew across Dollar General’s parking lot damaged a vehicle. A driver was cited for operating an all-terrain vehicle on city streets without city registration, outside designated hours, and without proof of insurance.

Friday — Police met with someone about a child custody issue.

Sunday — A hit-and-run driver damaged a garage door in the 600 block of E. Main St.; no accident or offense report was released. The welfare of a resident of the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. was checked.
