ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 22 — A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill his stepfather. Drivers were cited for having illegal window tinting on Orchard Dr. and warned for speeding in the 1000 block of E. D St. and for failing to stay in a traffic lane near 190th and Goldenrod Rds. Information about a child custody issue was provided. An ambulance was called for a driver with a medical problem.

July 23 — A minor traffic accident in the 300 block of S. Ash St. was investigated. Police helped a driver locked out of a vehicle at Country Haven Inn. A driver at US-56 and Industrial Rd. was warned for failing to yield.

July 24 — People loitering in Wendy’s parking lot were told they were trespassing.

Thursday — A suspicious vehicle was reported in an unspecified neighborhood. Police helped a resident determine where to make a crime report.

Friday — A car awaiting extensive repairs at Midway Motors was reported stolen. A driver pulled over for running a stop sign at 3rd and Ash St. was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Saturday — A resident reported that cell phone credentials were hacked and stolen. Police took a parking complaint in the 200 block of S. Date St., served an arrest warrant, and responded to a pickup on fire at Cedar and D Sts.

Sunday — A vehicle driving recklessly on Ash St. was located as it left town. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of N. Madison St. and passed along to the sheriff’s department a report of a cow out on K-15 south of US-56.

MARION

July 15 — A dog loose in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. A driver was cited for an unspecified moving violation near Main St. and Eastmoor Dr. An open door in the 500 block of Walnut St. was secured.

July 17 — People involved in a disturbance at Bown-Corby Apartments were separated with no charges filed. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a person near Roosevelt and Highland Sts.

July 18 — No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of Locust St.

July 23 — What initially was reported to be counterfeit currency in the 300 block of E. Main St. was determined to be authentic. Residents asking about a subpoena and a county issue were referred to the sheriff’s department.

July 24 — Eggs were reported in the roadway in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. A car with Vermont plates and a dark truck, both reportedly being driven improperly on Main St., were not located. Police found no problems after contacting a vehicle owner in the 500 block of N. Roosevelt St. for unspecified reasons.

Thursday — Police determined that sheriff’s deputies already were working on a complaint from a resident about threats received via Snapchat. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Friday — A parking complaint in the 1000 block of E. Main St. was investigated. A driver was warned for speeding at Main and Walnut Sts.

Sunday — No problems were found in investigating a report of a suspicious person, later located at Dollar General, who had been at the former Family Dollar / Dollar Tree location.

PEABODY

July 18 — A traffic accident involving alcohol and drugs at US-50 and Nighthawk was investigated.

July 20 — A juvenile was taken into protective custody.

July 22 — Geese and chickens reportedly ventured into a neighbor’s yard at 2nd and Maple Sts. Trespassing was reported at 7th and Chestnut Sts.

July 23 — Theft and criminal use of a financial card was reported in the 400 block of N. Locust St. Trespassing was reported in the 500 block of N. Vine St. A mail scam was reported in the 300 block of N. Vine St.

July 25 — Police helped the victim of a fall in the 200 block of E. 2nd St., intervened in a family argument in the 400 block of N. Vine St., and cleared debris from US-50 east of Nighthawk Rd.
