ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Oct. 28 — Drivers were warned for equipment violations in the 100 block of W. B St. and at Jade and 190th Rds. A resident had questions about regulation of utility terrain vehicles.
Oct. 29 — A driver was warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of S. Main St.
Oct. 30 — No charges were sought after police responded to a family disturbance at TC Wireless. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 200 block of N. Adams St. and the 800 block of S. Ash St. Police helped a locked-out driver at Dollar General.
Thursday — Smoke reported in the 200 block of S. Washington St. came from a fog machine. Police redelivered a package sent to a wrong address.
Friday — Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were discovered during a traffic stop on US-56 near Santa Fe St. Investigation of the breaking of a window on a car parked in a Tabor College parking lot is continuing. A driver was ticketed for violating license restrictions in the 600 block of E. D St. Another driver was warned for an equipment violation in the 400 block of S. Ash St. A resident who asked about shooting a BB gun in town was told it was illegal. Police also met with a resident about a civil property issue.
Saturday — Police escorted the Hillsboro High School cross-country team as it left for a state meet. Drivers were ticketed for speeding on Indigo Rd. at Willow Glen Ln., in the 900 block of S. Ash St., and in the 600 block of S. Ash St. Other drivers were warned for making improper turns in the 300 and 500 blocks of E. D St., for improper display of registration in the 200 block of E. 3rd St., for having a headline out in the 600 block of E. C St., and for running a stop sign in the 200 block of E. D St.
Sunday — Police informed two motorcyclists that lights on their bikes were illegal.
MARION
Oct. 29 — Debris was removed from the 1100 block of E. Main St. Police talked to a resident about a records request.
Oct. 30 — A dog loose in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was caught by its owner. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. A person offering Information about an incident in Lincolnville was referred to the sheriff’s office.
Thursday — A broken toilet dropped as part of a Halloween prank was removed from the 700 block of E. Main St. A person reportedly driving recklessly near Central Park was not located. A driver was cited for going 84 mph on US-56 near Cedar St. Another driver was warned for an unspecified moving violation near Main and Lincoln Sts. Police helped a driver with a flat tire at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
Friday — A driver was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and for driving with a suspended license near Main and 1st Sts. Another driver was stopped for having defective equipment near Main and 4th Sts. No problems were found in checking on a person in the 300 block of S. Cedar St.
Saturday — Charges are pending after a disturbance in the 300 block of Locust St. An alarm in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St. proved to be a smoke detector running out of power. Police talked to a resident about paying court fines.
Sunday — Police were called to help sheriff’s personnel with a fight at the county jail. However, the sheriff’s department contends it was only a quarrel, and the quarrel had ended Marion police arrived. A driver was locked out of a vehicle in the 1000 block of E. Main St.
