ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Nov. 4 — A vehicle reported as stolen turned out to have been repossessed. A resident complained about possible stalking. A young child originally reported to have been walking as if lost on Main St. was observed entering a home. Concerns about parking during reconstruction of the 100 blocks of Adams St. were addressed. A resident asked about inspection of a vehicle identification number.

Nov. 5 — Police helped a bounty hunter arrest a fugitive near Western Heights. A dog loose in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. was retrieved by its owner. Another dog loose at the sports was secured until its owner retrieved it. A driver was warned for speeding in the 100 block of E. Grand Ave. A resident had questions about a citation.

Nov. 6 — Police met with Department of Parks and Wildlife personnel about an investigation. Suspicious activity reported in the 300 block of W. D St. was not located. No report was taken for an accident that did not meet reporting requirements and that parties did not want to report.

Thursday — Hillsboro Community Hospital reported a dog bite. A driver was ticketed for having expired registration and no proof of insurance in the 300 block of S. Madison St. Broken glass was removed from Main St. and Grand Ave. Residents who asked were told BB guns could not be shot within the city.

Friday — A dog loose in the 200 block of S. Date St. was secured until its owner retrieved it. A driver was warned for an equipment violation in the 600 block of N. Ash St.

Saturday — Suspicious activity was reported at Industrial Park storage units. Police stood by during a domestic dispute over property in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. and answered questions about collecting information needed to report a car-deer accident and about a child custody matter.

Sunday — Evidence of stalking was gathered in regard to a domestic dispute, but the incident remains under investigation, and no report is yet available. A driver was warned for speeding on E. D St. Police helped a locked-out driver.

MARION

Nov. 4 — Drivers were warned for having defective equipment near US-56 and Industrial St. and for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. and US-56 and Timber Rd.

Nov. 5 — A traffic stop resulted in an motorist being ticketed for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Investigation of a report that a camper failed to pay at the VFW recreational vehicle park continues. Questions about obtaining a protection order were answered.

Nov. 6 — A driver was ticketed for speeding near Main and Elm Sts. Police and Department for Children and Families officials visited a home in the 300 block of N. 2nd St. No problems were found in checking on reports of a disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. and of a driving complaint on US-56.

Thursday — A 65-year-old Marion resident was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery after a disturbance at his home in the 400 block of N. Freeborn St. Police attempted to execute an arrest warrant in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. but were unable to locate the person to be arrested. A driver was warned for having defective equipment near Main and Elm Sts. Marion police assisted sheriff’s deputies with a traffic stop near Main and Lincoln Sts.

Friday — A parking complaint in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St, was investigated. Police and high school students picked up flags on Main St. after a storm.

Saturday — An alarm accidentally was activated at St. Luke Hospital. A dog reported to be loose near Elm and Hudson Sts. was not found. Drivers were warned for having defective equipment near US-56 and Industrial St. and for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St., warning for speed. Marion police assisted sheriff’s deputies with an unspecified traffic stop near Main and Cedar Sts.

Sunday — A driver was ticketed for having an expired license and no proof of insurance near US-56 and Cedar St. No problems were found after investigating a disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of N. Cedar St.
