ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Dec. 28 — Two drivers were ticketed for having expired licenses — one in the 600 block of W. D St. and one, who also was ticketed for having expired registration, in the 700 block. Police checked on the welfare of a driver at US-56 and Eagle Rd.

Dec. 29 — Police responded to a false alarm at Dollar General. A driver was ticketed for speeding in the 1000 block of S. Ash St. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 200 block of E. D St., for a registration violation on US-56 near Adams St., for failing to signal a turn at Kennedy and A Sts., for running a stop sign in the 400 block of S. Floral Dr., and for having a headlight out on US-56 near Adams St.

Dec. 30 — A fender bender in the Bomgaars parking lot was investigated. A complaint about a dog outside the city limits was forwarded to the sheriff’s department. No problems were found in checking on a possible break-in in the 300 block of S. Main St.

New Year’s Eve — Illegal fireworks were heard at midnight.

New Year’s Day — A driving complaint on K-15 was determined to be unfounded. Police talked to a resident in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. about eviction procedures. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 100 block of N. Lincoln St.

Thursday — A driver was ticketed for having an expired license and expired registration in the 100 block of N. Ash St.

Friday — A vehicle that was the subject of a driving complaint in the 100 block of S. Date St. was located leaving town. A driving complaint near US-56 and Ash St. was determined to be unfounded.

Saturday — Police investigated an accident in which a car ran into a stop sign, provided road updates to the city street department, and talked to a resident who had questions about a civil matter.

Sunday — Police helped multiple drivers stuck in snow and talked to a resident about a concern regarding social media.

MARION

Dec. 27 — A resident was bitten by a dog in the 1100 block of E. Main St. The dog owner was contacted the next day. No further information was released. Police investigated a noise complaint in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. A driver was warned for speeding near Main and Lincoln Sts.

Dec. 28 — Drivers were warned for having defective headlights near Main and Arbor Sts. and for speeding near Main and 3rd Sts.

Dec. 29 — Trespassing was reported in the 300 block of Locust St. No offense report was released.

Dec. 30 — A fender bender was investigated near 3rd and Santa Fe Sts. No problems were found in checking on a report of an attempted break-in in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd., for having a defective headlight near US-56 and Industrial St., for failing to signal a turn near 3rd and Water Sts., and for having a defective tag light near Main and Lincoln Sts.

New Year’s Eve — Vandalism was discovered in a Central Park restroom. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd.

New Year’s Day — A disturbance in the 200 block of Locust St. was referred to the Park City police department. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 100 block of S. Cedar St.

Thursday — Police talked to someone about an unspecified complaint in the 100 block of N. 2nd St.

Friday — A vehicle was reported stolen in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. No offense report was released. Littering was reported in the 300 block of Locust St. Police talked to someone in the 100 block of E. Main St. about an unspecified complaint regarding a food truck. Drivers were warned for having no trailer lights at US-56 and Timber Rd. and for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — A van slid into a parked SUV in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. No problems were found in investigating a report of two children left in a vehicle in the 1100 block of E. Main St.

Sunday — Police helped drivers stuck in snow at Main and 4th Sts. and at Santa Fe and 3rd Sts.
