ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

May 26 – Officers recovered an abandoned wallet at Casey’s General Store, and conducted a welfare check in the 500 block of S. Adams St. An individual lunged in front of a vehicle on Orchard Dr. because he felt he was being followed.

May 27 – A motorist received a citation for speeding in the 600 block of W. D St. Officers conducted a domestic disturbance and welfare check in the 100 block of S. Date St.

May 28 – Officers responded to a commercial alarm in the 900 block of E. D St. and found a cleaning crew at work. Officers investigated a report of a suspicious person in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. and found someone dropping off equipment requested by the property owner.

May 29 – A civil standby was conducted in the 900 block of E. D St. A traffic complaint was investigated, and an abandoned bike in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave. was returned to its owner. A report of a suspicious person in the 600 block of S. Main St. proved unfounded, and a parking complaint was investigated for a semi parked on the wrong side of the road at Ash and A Sts.

Thursday – Officers responded to a door alarm in the 200 block of Willow Rd., and a commercial alarm in the 900 block of E. D St. Officers addressed a civil complaint in the 400 block of S. Cedar St., and assisted a person who was lost and needed a ride back to their car. A dog that ran loose was caught by a person in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St., who said they would hold the animal until the owner arrived.

Friday – Officers conducted a welfare check in the 200 block of Elm St., and investigated a child custody case and a trespassing complaint in the 900 block of E. C St. Officers investigated a theft complaint in the 100 block of N. Cedar St., which turned out to be a civil matter. A motorist received a citation for speeding on US-56, and another motorist received a citation for a registration violation.

Saturday – A motorist received a citation for speeding on US-56. Officers assisted with a funeral escort. A motorist received a warning for an equipment violation and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Officers addressed a child custody case, and issued a citation for speeding on US-56.

Sunday – Officers conducted a welfare check in the 400 block of N. Ash St., conducted a civil standby for property removal in the 400 block of S. Cedar St.

MARION

May 27 — A motorist near Main and Lincoln Sts. was warned about having a headlight out. Officers determined that no crime had occurred during an argument in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St.

May 28 — A motorist in the 200 block of S. Coble St. was warned for not having registered a special-purpose vehicle. Another motorist, on US-56, was warned for having no license plate light. Officers arrested Eric J. Williams, 31, on a warrant citing failure to appear in court. A disabled vehicle on US-56 near Upland Rd. was checked.

May 29 — After being contacted by police, the owner of dogs running free in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. secured the animals. Motorists were warned for not stopping at a stop sign at Main and 3rd Sts., for going the wrong way on 2nd St. near Main, and for failing to signal a turn at Cedar and Lawrence Sts. A parking ticket was issued in the 500 block of S. Cedar St.

Thursday — After receiving another complaint, a officer contacted the owner of the vehicle ticketed the day before.

A motorist was ticketed for going 34 mph in a 20 mph zone at Main and Lincoln Sts. Other motorists were warned for having no turn signal and brake light, for speeding near Main and 4th Sts., for speeding on US-56 near Upland Rd., and for having a headlight out near Main and Santa Fe Sts.

Reports of violation of a protective order in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. and of vehicle theft in the 200 block of N. 3rd St. were determined to be unfounded or civic matters.

Friday — Police attempted to help with an out-of-control juvenile in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. Motorists were warned for speeding near Batt and Roosevelt Sts. and near Main and Elm Sts., for having a headlight out at 3rd and Library Sts., and for having no license plate light on US-56 and near Main and 4th Sts. Missing property was returned to its owner.

Saturday – A motorist in the 600 block of E. Main St. was warned for having no tag light. A commercial alarm in the 1000 block of Industrial St. proved to be spurious.

Sunday – A motorist was ticketed for driving 82 mph in a 65-mph zone on US-56 and for having no liability insurance. Officers returned missing property to its owner and met with the owner of a dog found by sheriff’s deputies. Motorists were warned for having improper taillights near Main and Thorp St. and for having no tag light on US-56.
