Regional coming to Marion

Marion has been selected to host Class 2A and 4A teams as part of the 2024 KSHSAA cross-country regionals on Oct. 26.

Marion

After back-to-back first place finishes, the Warriors took a step back against stiff competition last week in Halstead.

Eli Klenda led the Warriors by finishing 10th place in the tournament, followed by Luke Wessel in 25th.

On the girls side, Brooklyn Beery finished 25th, and Izy Branson placed 46th.

“The work continues this next week as we make the final push to get back to Wamego as a team,” coach Jason Hett said. “I believe this group has what it takes to get back and they are ready and committed to do the work it takes.”

The Warriors will travel to North Newton on Thursday for their second-to-last meet before regionals.

Hillsboro

The Lady Trojans had a solid showing Thursday at Harvey County Lake, with Riley Richert leading the way in fourth place. Quinlyn Funk placed seventh, and Jaidyn Frantz placed 15th.

One the boys side, Wyatt Dies finished with a time of 22:16, Ben Werner with a time of 24:01, and Casen Steinert with a time of 24:34.

Hillsboro will travel Thursday to Sterling for its next-to-last meet before regionals.

Goessel

The Bluebirds ran Thursday at Harvey County East Park in early fall heat.

Eli Gaeddert was fourth out of 59 runners, and Levi Olson placed 22nd. Aidan Impson finished in 29th place.

Elaina Graber placed sixth in the junior varsity girls race with a time of 27:19.

Goessel will host a meet Thursday at the Bethel College course in North Newton.

Centre

Centre was scheduled to run at the Halstead meet, but none of the varsity athletes are listed in the results, nor has the Centre coach responded to inquiries.

Centre is scheduled to compete Thursday at Goessel.
