EXPANDED EULOGIES

Ricky Boaldin

Ricky Charles (Hannah) Boaldin, 60, was born June 6, 1960, in Fort Carson, Colorado, to Wayne Thomas Hannah and Johanna Weiland.

He was the third of three sons and half-brother to two younger sisters. All five children were amazingly adopted when Rick was 5 years old into the very loving household of Cecil and Joan Boaldin, who were, and will always be, his mom and dad.

They adopted the three boys and, a year later, got the two girls into a household that had no children.

Rick was a typical middle child and older brother. He graduated from Chase County High School in 1978.

Rick married Jodi Shanklin on Sept. 21, 1979. To this union were born two awesome kids, Christopher Ryan (and wife Donna) in 1980 and Nicole Danielle (and husband Mike) in 1984. They divorced in 1988.

Rick married Gail Walker Fredrickson on Feb. 14, 1989. One amazing son was born to this union: Ricky Joseph in 1990. He also got two wonderful bonus kids, Jessica Ann Clayton (and husband Jay) and Jennifer Leann (and husband Jimmy) Shipman, whom he treated as if they were his very own.

Rick was an awesome Papa Cycle to Payden and Reagan Boaldin; Eyezaeah, Coe’lina, and Razael Mosqueda; Carol and Samuel Clayton; Eldon, Kaden, and Tucker Smith; Joseph Robert “Robbe” and Xaelan Boaldin; and bonus grandkids Aiden, Eli, Greyson, Averi, Wesley, and Ravyn Shipman.

All his grandchildren loved him dearly. For the past five years, he and Gail were guardians of grandson Robbe, whom he loved as much as (or maybe more than) than his own children.

Following in his dad’s footsteps, Rick was a lay minister at the Christian Church in Nashoba, Oklahoma, for a brief period. He was an awesome children’s pastor at Word of Hope Church, Larned, and Extreme Hope Christian Fellowship, Great Bend, and youth pastor at LifePoint Church, Topeka.

He was always on the worship team of the church he attended.

Rick did not find his bio-parents until the age of 53. His bio-dad was deceased, but he did establish a relationship with his bio-mom for a few years and found another half-sister, Leona Spain.

Rick had numerous jobs during the time he was able to work. He worked for the Cedar Point city pool, Harshman’s, Sunflower Crushed Stone, Santa Fe Railroad, Burns Co-op, Florence Police Department, Marion Police Department, United Protective of Nashville, and Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility and as chief of police for Pawnee Rock.

Rick became a computer guru and spent the rest of his career in that field, becoming an eight-state regional manager for L1 Identity Solutions with numerous subordinates.

Rick was a fabulous musician and was well-known in the 1980s for his band Ubah City Limits, which played in the local area and even saw a trip to Nashville.

Rick could play every instrument except the flute (His lips weren’t right.) and the trombone (His arms weren’t long enough.). He was a great two-stepper and had a deep infinity for motorcycles.

Rick was ushered into the arms of Jesus on March 29. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad and a grandson, Xaelan. He is survived by wife and children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws, outlaws, and best friend Bill.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Community Church, Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to Autism Speaks in care of Jost Funeral Home.
