Road work planned
Work on portions of US-77 and US-50 in Marion County has been approved by Kansas Department of Transportation.
An 8.3 mile milling and overlay project will be done from 0.14 mile north of the US-50/77 roundabout at Florence to 0.28 miles south of the US-56/K-150/US-77 roundabout east of Marion.
The $1,598,626.62 contract was awarded to Bettis Asphalt and Construction, Topeka.
A $1,929,159.25 overlay project on US-50 also was awarded to Bettis. That job will be 5.7 miles along US-50 from 0.32 mile east of the Florence roundabout to the Marion and Chase county line.
Additionally, Harvey County plans to replace a concrete box beneath N. East Lake Rd. (Indigo Rd. extended) three quarters of a mile south of N.E. 108th Rd. (70th Rd. extended).
Harvey County Road and Bridge director Jim Meier said a section of East Lake Rd. would be closed and no detour established. A schedule will be determined after bids are opened.
