More than 64 members representing 10 hospital volunteer and auxiliary groups spanning central Kansas and Wichita attended a fashion show Thursday that highlighted the best St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary has to offer.
The Auxiliary was host for a District 4 meeting of Hospital Volunteers of Kansas.
A highlight of the meeting was a fashion show with volunteers parading thrift shop finds from St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary’s thrift shop.
Don Molleker stepped to the stage wearing hunting camouflage, carrying a duck decoy, and tooting a duck call.
He sat on an umbrella seat and talked to audience members.
But he wasn’t done. He removed the hunting gear to show a button-down shirt and slacks from the thrift store.
“Only he would strip on stage,” fashion show announcer Mary Ann Mack said, making the audience chuckle.
St. Luke chief executive Alex Haines gave audience members a legislative update on bills affecting hospitals and the so-called 340B program that provides small hospitals with revenue to provide care for people who are unable to pay.
