Wanda Meier

Graveside services for Wanda R. Meier, 86, who died Oct. 23 at Legend of Hutchinson, were 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, at Valley Township Cemetery, Burrton.

Pastor Lennie Maxwell officiated. Family greeted friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Wanda was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Hutchinson to Floyd C. and Ruth Babe (Stoughton) Bogner Sr. She graduated from Burrton High School in 1953.

She was an accountant and owner of Meier Tax Service from 1964 to 2020. She enjoyed nature, working in the yard, gardening, and watching birds and squirrels.

She loved horses growing up and always was happiest with a dog by her side. She and her husband enjoyed riding motorcycles and took many trips together on them.

On May 30, 1953, she married Robert E. “Dynamite Bob” Meier at First Christian Church in Burrton. They shared more than 45 years together before his death June 5, 1999.

Wanda is survived by daughter Melody (and husband Larry) Freeman of Hutchinson; son Darin Meier; brothers Lloyd Bogner of Holland, Michigan, and Floyd (and wife Kathy) Bogner Jr. of Burrton; grandchildren Justin (and wife Lindsey) Freeman and Shawn (and wife Allison) Freeman; and great-grandchildren Dorian, Sylvia, Hailey and Delilah, all of Burrton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert R. “Rusty” Meier, and sister Juanita Silvey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Caring Hands Humane Society, Newton, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main St, Hutchinson KS 67501.
