Marion
Marion wrestlers had their best showing Friday in Onaga. Each team member had at least one victory.
Kellen Waner swept finished 3-0. Wyatt Soyez and Vyolett Dawson were 2-1. Julian Resser and Sam Rziha were 1-2.
“I saw more fight from kids than I have seen all season,” coach Tyler McMichael said.
“Vyolett had an excellent evening after being out for the last few weeks due to sickness. Her last match of the evening was a pin after being down 10-0, and she fought harder than I have seen from her in the last two years.”
The Warriors last dual of the season will be Thursday at Central Burden. Regional’s will follow Feb. 9 to 17.
“I am excited to see what we can get done in the week ahead of us and hopefully keep this going in the right direction,” McMichael said.
Hillsboro
Aaron Hein (20-8) was the lone wrestler to place this weekend for Hillsboro at the two-day Circle Invitational.
He placed third, finishing 5-1, beating Cason Wyrick by medical forfeit.
“Someone that has bought in and trusts the process is sophomore Aaron Hein,” coach Scott O’Hare said. “He continued his stretch of earning tournament medals, finishing third in a very deep 144-pound bracket.”
