A new curbside mailbox in the 100 block of S. Freeborn St. is intended to keep postal carriers safe from dog threats, but some nearby neighbors have received hardship exemptions to keep receiving their mail near their front doors.

Intensity was the name of the game in last week's cross-county doubleheader between Marion and Hillsboro. Game one was a see-saw battle which saw the Trojans take an early lead, relinquish it, then grab it back before patience at the plate paid off for Marion batters, as Hillsboro pitching gave up two runs on walks to give the Warriors a 6-5 victory, with Peyton Heidebrecht picking up the win.
Parkside Homes resident Virginia Campbell accepts a card and stuffed bunny gifted to her on Friday by the grandchildren of Kathy and Ray Sibayan. The children wanted to give Easter gifts to Parkside residents after participating in Parkside's annual Easter egg hunt. "It's just gotten bigger and bigger in the last five years," Penni Funk said. The hunt started out as an event for Parkside residents' families and families of staff members, but Funk decided to open it to the public.
